Bicol region is famous for Pili Nut, it is abundant especially in the area of Albay, Camarines Sur and Sorsogon.
the ripe and raw pili fruit
Based on Wikipedia, only the Philippines processed Pili Nuts for commercial purposes.
the fruit is tasty
Variety of processed pili nuts are available, some are salted, caramelized and sugar coated. Your choices are endless. I like the one with sugar coated and the Mazapan Pili. :)
ang cute :)
The locals even cooked/boiled the Pili Nut and used it as their viand. They just put salt or sugar and they are good to go. I tried it, but I am not a fan of it.
the boiled pili nut
For me pili nut is better than almonds, well lets not compare it to pistachios. :)
lagi ako kumakain ng pili pero ngayon ko lang nakita yung fruit hehe
ReplyDeleteI think the pili nuts lack substance. Tasted some salted ones and not quite like them. I would prefer many nuts over the pili including pistachio, almonds and macadamia.
